Getting Rid of Skin Tags the Natural Way

Skin tags are benign growths, and do not indicate any sort of health problem. But, most consider them unattractive, particularly if they occur in noticeable areas of the body in larger numbers. Fortunately, you are not just stuck with them, and if you are interested in treating them naturally, you are in luck. There are several remedies that may be effective.

One thing to note about natural treatments for skin tags is it can sometimes take a bit to completely remove the tag, so exercise some patience, and be consistent in using your chosen remedy.

Garlic

This might be a bit of a stinky remedy, but it is one of the most recommended for treating these pesky growths. Crush a clove of garlic until it is the consistency of a paste, apply to the skin tag in the evening, and cover with a bandage. Take it off in the morning and wash the area. Do this every night until the tag comes off—this treatment has been known to get rid of the tag in just a few days.

Cauliflower Juice

Cauliflower juice is good for drying up the tag, and has the added bonus of smoothing out the skin. Blend the vegetable with a bit of water to make a juice, and like with the garlic, apply it and cover with a bandage. Wash the skin off the next day, and repeat. For an extra punch, you might consider combining these two ingredients.

Lemon

Lemon is a very popular treatment for a variety of skin conditions—it is used to treat acne, scars and uneven skin tone. Its ability to dissolve skin cells makes it a popular natural remedy for skin tags. In fact, essential oil made from lemon peels it is a common ingredient in many skin tag removal products. It is often combined with other oils, and sometimes homeopathic remedies.

As far as using actual lemons go, soak some juice in a cotton ball, let it dry and leave it on. You can apply it two to three times a day. Lemon juice has strong exfoliating properties, and if you are using it on your face, it is a good idea to apply sunscreen if you will be out in the sun a lot during the day to protect yourself from an increased risk of sunburn.

Castor Oil

Castor oil has a long history of use in the natural health arena, with one of the most common being to induce vomiting. But, no worries….as far as skin tags go, you will be using it topically! There are a couple of different ways you can use it.

Just apply the oil directly to the tag at least five times a day. You can also mix it with baking soda to make a paste and wrap with a bandage before you go to bed. Another common treatment is mixing the oil with the essential oil lomatium and applying to the skin two to three times a day.

Onion Juice

Those powerful compounds in onions that make your eyes water once you cut open an onion are also very good for removing growths, such as skin tags. To extract the juice, cut up and onion and put some salt on it. Leave it overnight, and the next day, you should find some juice there. Apply to your skin at night, and cover with a bandage.

These are just a few remedies that may be helpful. You don’t have to live with skin tags if they are bothering you. These natural treatments are safe and effective. Just remember to be patient.
