Easy Holiday Recipes Kids Can Make

The kids love to be in the kitchen and the holidays are no exception! It seemed like no matter how hard I tried to let he kids make the candies and cookies, I ended up doing most of the baking myself. The kids love getting their hands and faces covered in flour but were bored easily with all the waiting. I wanted to have a recipe that the kids could make from beginning to end and have fun making it!

Chocolate Dipped Pretzels You can make so many variations of this sweet and salty snack and it is perfect to take to parties and family get-togethers. To start, you will need pretzel rods, twists, sticks or squares, chocolate for melting and drizzling, sprinkles, festive colored icing, wax paper and a cookie sheet. I cover the cookie sheet with wax paper and set it in the freezer until the kids need it. Melt the chocolate over a low heat or in a double boiler. The older kids can do this part, just make sure they stir continuously to avoid burning. When the chocolate is melted take the cookie sheet out of the freezer. Dip the pretzels in the chocolate (be careful not to touch the pan, it is HOT!) so that it is covered partially or cover the whole pretzel. Drizzle with the white chocolate, red or green icing and add sprinkles. Set the pretzels carefully on the cookie sheet. I set the pretzels in the refrigerator to set.

Chocolate Dipped Peanut Butter Ritz Crackers This an easy, tasty treat for the kids to make and enjoy! Make sure you have Ritz Crackers, peanut butter, melting chocolate, sprinkles and wax paper on hand before you start. Cover a cookie sheet with wax paper and set it in the freezer. Melt the chocolate over low heat, in a double boiler or in the microwave. Remember to stir often to avoid burning. Spread peanut butter on a Ritz Cracker and add another cracker to make a sandwich. Make as many or as few as you like. Dip half or all of the peanut butter cracker in the chocolate and set on wax paper. Drizzle with white chocolate, red or green icing and add sprinkles. The chocolate will set quicker if you set the cookie sheet in the fridge for a few minutes.

These sweet and salty treats are easy and fun for the kids to make and take to any holiday event! Have fun in the kitchen with your children this holiday season!
