Did the words “Mocha Latte” get your attention? I know it gets me every time.
Hello, my name is Brooke and I’m a chocoholic.
When the Karin Herzog brand reached out to see if I wanted to try their chocolate face cream, how could I possibly resist? I washed off my makeup the first night and put on my anti aging skincare face cream without saying anything to my fiance. After sniffing my hands like a child, I walked downstairs to his library and heard, “Why do you smell like hot cocoa?” Score.
About The Karin Kerzog Line
The Karin Herzog skin care line was founded over 40 years ago in Switzerland by Nobel Institute honoree Dr. Paul Herzog. After retiring, his wife encouraged him to set up a small lab in their home and he worked on creating a liquid base for his oxygen skin care line. Originally he was after the antiseptic properties of oxygen for medical use. Karin was a esthetician and decided to try her husband’s creations herself. After seeing its cosmetic uses, they began the line and named it for her.
Chocolate In Your Skin Care
The Chocolate Face Cream is infused with Swiss chocolate to aid in relaxation while it’s soaking in. It promotes a smooth texture and softer complexion. Every time I try a new moisturizer, I’m usually horribly disappointed. My skin misbehaves like it’s in the terrible twos. It’s been oily and full of little face monsters (breakouts) for most of my life. More often than not moisturizers leave me with a new colony of face monsters and I have to quit using it. I’m three days in now and still no more little bumps than usual which means this isn’t throwing my face out of balance.
Have I mentioned the fact that you can smell the chocolate yet? It’s not as heavy as a perfume but I can smell it for about an hour after putting it on. That makes me a very happy mom. Cocoa has been used for skincare for over 1,500 years. The Aztecs used it for how calming and soothing it is, and how rich in polyphenols it is (anti-aging magic). Chocolate in our cosmetics is very in right now and totally worth trying.
There’s only one small drawback to products like the Chocolate line. The oxygen is wonderful for your face, but there’s a warning on the bottle that says not to get it in your hair line or put it on your eyebrows. It can lighten them.
With the moisturizer, here’s what my skincare routine currently looks like:
Daily Skincare Routine:
- Wash face and wonder how women do the splash thing in commercials.
- Apply anti-acne serum. Wonder how many other adults still have this problem.
- Put on Chocolate face cream. Get a craving for a latte.
- Pat anti-aging eye cream around eyes and stare at crow’s feet.
Weekly Skincare Routine:
- Charcoal Face Mask.
- Shea Butter Lip Scrub. The last one I made smells like cinnamon, so it’s good with the chocolate.
- Use exfoliating tool on face.
I haven’t had a chance to try them yet, but there are several other parts of the Chocolate set. There’s a gel cleanser (and makeup remover), an oxygen treatment, and a lip balm. (Chocolate lip balm you guys. That falls pretty far on the “need” side.) I think it’s a brilliant idea to bring the properties of oxygen and cocoa together to encourage our skin to be clear and vibrant.
What do you think: Would you try cosmetics with chocolate in them?
