Winter is coming, and that means that the weather outside might get frightful, but it is possible for you too, despite this, feel delightful! It’s actually pretty easy to stay toasty warm no matter how cold it gets or how much snow you have to shovel!

Invest in the Right Clothing
The most obvious way of keeping yourself warm when the weather is frightful is by ensuring that you have the right clothing. Someone very wise once said that there is no bad weather, only bad clothing, and that is certainly true. So, before winter gets into full swing, invest in some warming felt slippers, thermal underwear, a hat and gloves and a proper winter jacket. Some winter boots wouldn’t go amiss either.
Put Your Fan On
If your heating isn’t keeping you warm enough, it might sound counterintuitive, but turning on your ceiling fan can help. Why? Because hot air rises, and that means your ceiling will be warmer than your couch! By putting the fan on, as long as it’s on its lowest setting, it will push that warm air down, where you’ll get more benefit from it.
Buy a Hot Water Bottle
Hot water bottles might seem a little quaint or old-fashioned, but placing one in your bed an hour before you retire for the evening, will ensure that it’s toasty warm. Buy one with a cover and you can hug it all night long for the warmth you desire.
Block Any Drafts
Now is the time to systematically go around your house looking for any cold spots or areas where drafts seem to be getting through. Have any cracks in walls or loose seals around doors and windows resealed and buy draft excluders to place across the bottom of your interior doors, and you’ll feel a whole lot warmer come winter.
Stock Up on Hot Chocolate
When winter comes around, it’s time to give yourself a little break in the watching your weight department and treat yourself to some warming hot chocolate and maybe some other chocolate treats too. There’s nothing like gathering around a warm fireplace in the winter with your family, each with a mug of hot chocolate to make you feel toasty warm. Don’t forget the marshmallows!
Have a Hot-Cold Shower
Again, this might seem counterintuitive, but switching between the hot and cold settings when you have your morning shower could help to keep you warm because cold water improves the body’s circulation, which will help to keep the worst of the cold at bay. It’s not easy at first, but you get used to it!
Throws, Throws, Throws
Once you’ve sorted out any drafts you may have had in your home, and you have the thermostat set to optimum, there’s nothing like adding a few layers of throws over you and your family as you sit and talk, watch TV or sleep. The layers will trap air, and the warmth of the throws themselves will be [pretty comforting.
Here’s to a truly toasty winter 2017!
