There’s a whole world waiting to be explored. Rather than going on the same old vacation to the same old sunny resort that you visit every year, it might be time for you to step out of your comfort zone. Rather than liking pictures on Instagram of all the iconic or pretty places that you’d like to visit, why don’t you visit some of them in the flesh? Seeing a photograph is nothing like exploring somewhere for yourself. Here are some places to explore if you’re searching for adventure galore.
Machu Picchu, Peru
The ancient city of Machu Picchu is one of the finest gems that the country of Peru has to offer. Breathtaking in terms of both man-made beauty and the natural beauty which surrounds it, the once-great Machu Picchu is the hub of all adventure. You should head here if you want a full tour of this lost Incan city in order to get a real feel for what the ancient Mayan empire was like back in its glory days. It can really help you to appreciate what you’re looking at if you have a little historical and cultural context about the place in which you find yourself.
Of course, it’s still mesmerizing to admire a city such as Machu Picchu for nothing more than its awe-inspiring architecture and its location amongst the magnitude of Peru’s stunning mountains. When you think of an adventure in its purest sense, nothing really tops a visit to the ruins of some ancient city shrouded in the mystery of a long-lost society. Peru is home to a heap of beautiful cities that were part of the vast Incan Empire, so you could certainly go on a journey to explore more of them whilst you’re there.
Texas, United States
Whilst you may think you can picture Texas in your head if you’ve seen a few movies with cowboys and Indians, there’s more to this fantastic state than worn-out stereotypes. And if you’re visiting the south of America then such a trip is wasted if you don’t see Texas on your travels. Houston is a city which has it all; dense urban environments with a vibrant energy and some of the most beautiful local foods the region has to offer. Take this opportunity to dive into the Texas BBQ scene because there’s good reason as to why it’s famous for this type of cuisine. Head to some of the fine barbecue restaurants in Houston for smoked beef ribs if you want a life-changing experience.
Paris, France
It might seem like an obvious suggestion but there’s no greater adventure than a trip to the capital of France. Paris has so much to offer and the Eiffel Tower is barely the beginning. You need to try out some of the authentic bakeries whilst you’re in the city because croissants and pain au chocolat will never taste quite the same once you return home. Of course, that might ruin “lesser” versions of French food for you in the future, so try the delicious local cuisine at your own risk.
