Smokey Gunk Laundry Funk Gone Bye-Bye with Febreze Laundry Odor Eliminator

I am a pretty picky momma when it comes to smells. If it gets anywhere near funky, out the door it goes. The only yucky odor I have been unable to toss is my hubby, smoker and 60 hour work week sweater. Seriously our lovely moments are questioned on a daily basis as he nears and the scent of pee-u appears.

Getting the funk out of his clothes is a challenge. The laundry room can even begin to carry this stench along with wet towels and more if left unattended for more than 48 hours. So I for one was happy the day I discover that my favorite freshen-uper Febreze now makes a Laundry Odor Eliminator.

I put it right to the test adding it to every load of laundry for the first few days after finding it on the shelves at my local Hy-Vee grocery. Everything came out just as clean as usual with my the combination of use of the Febreze Laundry Odor Eliminator and my everyday laundry detergent of choice. The only difference was a light scent of what I like to call the original Febreze smell. I like that it was not overpowering. In fact my hubby never noticed the difference but I sure could especially in his work shirts.

Though I wanted to take the challenge even further and see if there was any smell the Febreze Laundry Odor Eliminator couldn’t overcome. Thus I tossed a towel in his passenger seat and demanded it stay put for the next 7 days. Knowing from experience he smokes a lot in the car and piles all kinds of food, trash, etc in the front seat. I was almost afraid of what might become of the white towel at the end of the seven-day trail.

I found it on the floorboard of the passenger size seat on the eve of day 7. It was dusty, stepped on, had some pop looking spill and smelled ripe. I decided to toss it in the washer alone with a light odor load measurement (3/8 cup). Since it was alone and the water level low, I assumed this would work. At the end of the wash cycle I removed the towel and smelled. To be honest it was kinda fruity, the towel had retained the scent of my laundry detergent instead of the Febreze. Not really sure if this occurred because the febreze eliminated the odor and allowed the scented detergent to soak through or if I just over did the detergent. Either way I was surprised at the result and will continue to use the Laundry Odor Eliminator on my husband’s laundry, towels and anything else that smelly odors can be found in.
