Over the last two years, I have had a watchful eye on Carousel Designs, the baby bedding company. Their ever-changing designs of pure modern luxury always had my interest peaked. Then it was finally time to add a piece of theirs to our home, the Gray Zoology Crib Blanket.
The print side of the blanket patterns a jungle scene splashed with the most basic deep natural coloring. The darkness of the color pallet gives a manly feel to the design while the shapes of the flowers and blossoming trees lighten the mood making it a lovely addition to my toddlers room.
The opposite side is a solid sheet of grey minky. This is not the typically thick minky fabric I have seen in the past which can be heavy and cause the body to overheat when used for long periods of time. I am fond of this quality of minky used on the Gray Zoology Crib Blanket and believe it to be the smarter choice when selecting a blanket that will be used continuously for nap time or even for overnight sleep. Also being light weight my son has the ability to carry this around with him wherever he may go.
Now while I am taken away by the design and minky softness, I did notice a few open strings at the seams. We have been using the Gray Zoology Crib Blanket for nearly three weeks and have washed it twice. A few of the frays have disappeared and luckily there has been no opening of the fabric closure. I expect this is just a rare flaw and it is nothing to be concerned about. After all I have found lesser quality items perfectly sewn together come apart in the first round of the washing machine.
