Every year, Habitat for Humanity’s most famous volunteers, President and Mrs. Carter, give a week of their time to help build, renovate or repair homes and raise awareness about the need for affordable and decent housing. Last year, the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project led an effort in Haiti to build 100 homes in Léogâne, Haiti, in partnership with families left homeless by the 7.0-magnitude earthquake. This November, the Carters return with nearly 600 volunteers to build 100 additional homes.
In anticipation of this year’s build, Habitat is hosting a #HabitatinHaiti Twitter party to discuss what it takes to get a community back on its feet after disasters like the earthquake in Haiti. Join us and find out how the Habitat community in Haiti is now flourishing and what everyone can do to get involved with Habitat’s work in the community where they live.
