Many thanks to Depend for sponsoring today’s story and spread #underwareness cause.
Dealing with LBL is something I have been very open about lately on the blog. I think more women need to realize how common the issue truly is and heal from any embarrassment you may have experienced in the past. This is one of the biggest reasons I have been such a strong supporter of the Depend #underwareness movement. This campaign helps show women like you and me that we are not alone!
I am happy to share a few of my best tips for bladder leakage issues:
Be prepared. For me, bladder leakage is more prominent before and during my period. I know ahead of time to wear protection like Depend Silhouette Active Fit briefs when going out for a few hours, when traveling by plane or car when a restroom may not be immediately available and even when exercising. I also generally pack a brief change in my purse or overnight bag, just encase.
Travel with cleaning cloths. No matter if I am carrying my purse or even a baby bag, I always have some sort of cleaning cloths. When my children were younger baby wipes were easier to keep on hand, but now that they have grown out of that stage, I prefer to keep individually packaged feminine cloths. These are great to have when those accidents occur and will keep you smelling fresh and feeling clean.
Limit your beverage intake. I almost always decline a beverage when traveling for long distances. Unless we are 30 minutes or closer to a restroom, I know ahead time that by limiting my liquid intake, I lessen my chances of needing to go to the bathroom thus resulting in less leakage. However, when make sure to fuel up with some water after you land or stop for the day.
Relax and breath. It is almost always embarrassing and just a yucky experience when bladder leakage occurs. So, why should you make it harder on yourself emotionally? Right now in this moment, accept this is something you cannot change but there are ways to make it easier to live with. Knowing what to wear for bladder leakage is winning half the battle.
