The love of photography has grown into a booming business. Long gone are the days of bulky cameras and long developments times. Though for some of us whom still have fond dark room memories and long to bring back the authentication of original photographs comes the Polaroid Lab. Bringing back film chemistry at its finest with dark room results to deliver an old feel with a stunning, modern look to your digital photography come to life.
I remember being a young girl carrying around the Polaroid camera on every adventure I could partake in. Taking photos and seeing immediate results was like magic in my own two hands. I would photography my friends, family, pets and the scenery surrounding me. I still have many of those memories in old family photo albums today. Looking back on them reminds me of the true benefit of having physical proof of those days gone by. It is something I want my children to experience now and eventually share it with theirs in the future. With the Polaroid Lab, they can print out photos taken with their smartphone, hold them in their hands, share them with friends and store them until they need their own walk down memory lane.
Setting up the Polaroid Lab was simple. We started by downloading the Polaroid Originals app, available for iOS and Android (works with iPhone 6, 6s, 7, 8, X, Xs and newer, most Android™ smartphones). Take the cover off and load some film into the Polaroid Lab. The choose which photo you want to develop into a print. Be sure to setup if you are using color film or black & white at this point. You can use i-Type or 600 film in this device.
The place your device screen down on the top of the lab (yes where the lens is located) This is the point where many of us discover the true difference between the Polaroid Lab and smartphone printers. This process is unique and the lenses actually photographs to print your selected picture. Cool, right?!? Once everything is aligned correctly, the lab with blink three times and make a bling sounds. Press the red button, then it goes to work and ejects the photo. Just like with the original Polaroid photos, lay it flat photo side for 15 minutes. Then you are ready to enjoy your photograph in person!
We enjoyed testing out the Polaroid Lab. It brought back so many fun memories of my childhood and is allowing me to share in new ones with my teenage daughters. It is one gadget we will treasure and continue to use again and again.
