We are officially changing the way we do dinner with the Crock-Pot Express Crock Multi-Cooker. Since I began cooking in my tween years, Crock-Pot has been a household name that I thought I knew all of the ends and outs of. My slow-cooker became my best friend in the kitchen when I became a parent and realised that I just no longer had hours to spend in the kitchen slaving over the stove. Little did I know that my beloved Crock-Pot could do so much more than make one-pot wonders. In fact, it brings new meaning to fan-freaking-tastic when it comes to perfectly cooked and tasty meats.
It all began this past year when I was gifted with an absurd amount of ribs. Yes, I said ribs! After cooking the traditional way, season – wrap in foil – grill or smoke for nearly 2 hours – unwrap – grill again for 10 minutes – the add bbq sauce and grill again, way too many times to count, I got fed up with losing 3+ hours of my life just on a meat to include in our meal. One morning seeing those dreaded ribs out for dinner, I had a lightbulb moment and pulled out my slow-cooker. I cut them into a few strips and placed them in a circle, covered, put on low to cook and crossed my fingers.
Six hours later, we had some of the most amazing ribs imaginable. All I had to do was pull them add a but of barbecue sauce and bake in the oven for 15 minutes. Out came a meat with ideal texture, melt in your mouth tender yet somehow still firm enough that they did not fall apart when picked up. After this, I tried chicken, chops, various roasts and they all delivered the same, simple perfection. The only fail I had was steak – oh well!
Fast forward to this holiday season when I was graced with an upgrade, the Crock-Pot® Express Crock Multi-Cooker. I wish you would see my face when I opened the box and see all the buttons. I was confused and worried until I discovered the slow-cooker dial. Thank goodness! Now I had a unit that not only gave me the slow-cooked feature that I loved but also some express options which I have learned come in handy when you get busy and forget to start your meal in the am or even pull something out of the freezer. I have in fact tossed frozen chicken in this express crock to cook and it took a bit longer but still came out just right.
